Fireworks Alternative 6S First-Flight Guide
A practical 6S first-flight manual focused on verification, healthy LiPos, correct prop direction and a boring—but successful—first hover.
Before the first flight
- Inspect carbon, hardware, TPU, wiring, antennas, motor bells and battery lead
- Confirm ELRS link and telemetry
- With props off, verify channels, ARM, modes, FC orientation, motor order, motor direction and failsafe
- Confirm goggles, clean video, OSD, battery voltage and link-quality data
- Outdoors, acquire GPS and understand Rescue before relying on it
- Install props only after motor checks are complete

Use only if the quad carries it comfortably.
A fully charged 6S LiPo is 25.2V. Use balance mode, confirm all six cells, never charge unattended, and retire swollen, punctured, crushed or overheated packs.
Prop direction
Use the aircraft's own reference. Betaflight may be configured props-in or props-out. Actual motor rotation, configuration and installed prop must all agree. Never test motors with props installed.
First hover
- Use a huge open area; place the quad level and facing away.
- Confirm model, battery voltage, links, OSD and GPS status.
- Arm only with the area completely clear.
- Lift decisively into a low hover for 10–20 seconds.
- Land, disarm, check motor temperature, props, nuts, antennas and straps.
- Use the first packs for smooth circuits, altitude control and landings—not hero gaps.
60-second check

- Correct undamaged props secure
- Healthy battery strapped; lead clear
- Antennas secure
- Radio and video clean
- GPS checked if equipped
- ARM/DISARM known
